About GCSD
Glenwood Welcomes Military Families
Thank you for your service!
The Glenwood Community School District is home to many active duty and veteran families. With over 3000 military members and their families living in Mills County, we have a proud history of service in western Iowa.
Glenwood is less than 15 miles from Offutt Air Force Base, in Bellevue Nebraska. We also have three VA medical facilities in the area for veterans to use: the Omaha VA Medical Center, the Bellevue Community Based Outreach Clinic (CBOC) and the Shenandoah CBOC.
The Mills County Veterans Affairs office helps eligible veterans apply for county, state, and federal benefits. We can assist eligible veterans with the following:
- VA Medical Care
- Compensation and Pension
- Military Records
- Grave Markers
- Iowa Veterans Home
Iowa has many benefits for eligible veterans, including:
- A $5000 Homeownership Assistance Grant
- Military Retirement Pay Tax Exemption
- Property Tax Exemption
- Disabled Veterans Homestead Tax Credit
- Lifetime Hunting and Fishing License
