Clarinet Toungue
Tonguing is one of the most important fundamentals that must be learned by young musicians of all instruments. We run into many different obstacles and there is never one way that a student will learn. So check out these great videos and make sure that you are using your tongue correctly. If you can't tell, I will be doing some tongue checks in class and make sure that you are using your tongue correctly.
Clarinet Pros
Your horn in clean and your tone and tongue are in working order. Now you just need to know what a clarinet is supposed to sound like and then you will be well on your way to clarinet greatness like recent Glenwood All-Staters Emily Vang and Henry Jacob! Bass Clarinet
Once you get into 7th grade we typically move a few motivated students toward the bass clarinet. We also have a contra-bass clarinet at the HS and if you fit the bill can have the opportunity to honk on that gigantic clarinet. So keep practicing and you will keep all options on the table. Check out the video below. There are lots of clarinets out there and if you end up with no other hobbies in life you can start collecting rare and unusual clarinets to bide your time.
