1/29/24 Principal Newsletter

Dear Parent and Student and Educator,

Semester 2 is now underway.  Thank you for your collaboration and support as we faced weather.

Important note: While we are now in semester 2 classes, we are continuing learning from semester 1 for those students who are still needing additional support to improve their semester 1 performance.  For this reason, grade reports will be coming out the first full week in February.

This past week, we held Class Meetings to revisit our Student and Family Handbook expectations. 

Instruction Updates: Mathia, a supplemental math online resource to our 6-12 Carnegie instructional materials, will no longer be used for outside of the classroom homework/practice. Its utilization will be related to periodic inside the classroom practice.  Therefore, it will also NOT be a requirement or “essential practice” for those required to or desiring to take part in the reteaching/reassessment process.  Essential practice will still be required to complete and get feedback on in order to take part in the 10 day reteaching and reassessment windows as it has been this year. Students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the other practice that is assigned to them by their math teachers.

Rationale for this change: We want to ensure practice (amount and selection) is better tailored to the learning needs of our students and that teacher feedback can be provided on student learning in direct alignment to outcomes and their components.
