2/12/24 Principal Newsletter
Dear Parent and Student and Educator,
This week we have an early out Wednesday. Next week there is no school on Monday for students and staff in observance of President’s Day. Please see below for some important reminders this month.
Please help us to nominate our Teachers of the Year:The Glenwood Community School Foundation is excited to present the 2024 John A. Gregory Teacher of the Year. Nominations are open! Nominate a teacher who inspires students to reach their highest academic potential. The finalist will receive $500 from John B. Gregory, Farm Bureau Financial Services Agent, with an additional $500 from the Glenwood Community School Foundation for use in their classroom or content area. Nominations are open until March 1. https://shorturl.at/hAHJK
News: Please see Mr. Bissen’s Weekly AD Email for updates to activities schedules/events.
Winter Formal “Snowball” will be on Saturday, February 24th. Cost is $3, tickets will be on sale beginning February 16th–23rd before school and during lunch. Tickets must be purchased prior to the dance. The student council is organizing a fun night for Glenwood High School students, which will include some activities, such as pickle ball and corn hole, ping pong, etc… Students may not leave the dance / activities after entry and return. Activities that follow the dance are low intensity, so we encourage you to just kick off your shoes (no dress shoes worn on gym floors) and stay dressed in your outfit and enjoy the fun. That is probably the easiest thing to do! If you plan to bring a change of comfy clothes, items/bags will need to be checked in to the library upon arrival.

Sophomores will be getting back their PreACT results in Biology classes on Monday and Tuesday of this week. The results will be explained and sent home with students. The PreACT is a practice ACT test. Results give students a predicted ACT score and possible next steps to improve in the areas of English, math, reading, and science. In addition, the interest inventory results of the PreACT suggest possible career areas based upon their interests.
Ramily Family Event: Tuesday, February 13th.
