Weekly Activities Director Newsletter.  &  Office Announcements

Dear Parent, Student, and Educator,

This week, we have a full week of school with an early out Wednesday. HS Picture Day is Wednesday Sept. 25th. See this link for ordering details. Students will be called down during the day for their picture. Retakes are Friday, November 8th.

Student Input Group:

Administrators Mrs. Duitsman and Mr. Stukenholtz and Instructional Coach Mr. Rasmussen met with students selected by teachers in grades 9-12 for our first Student Input Group. Valuable information was shared, including: ways to increase engagement in RAMS time by offering more choices and increasing communication with students. We are grateful for student leadership at GHS and for the many ways students contribute to our positive culture!

Upcoming Class Meetings:

Class meetings will be held during RAMS time Friday, 9/27 with 11/12th graders and 9/30 with 9/10th graders to discuss social media, school safety, and homecoming.

We encourage parents and families at home to remind students also about the importance of “See Something, Say Something” –report any harmful or threatening messaging to administration and to avoid resharing negative messages on social media.

With our school theme this year of “Amplify Positivity” –We also encourage students to think about how their words, actions, and their messages create a positive influence on others rather than a negative influence. We have such wonderful students at GHS, and we appreciate their contributions on a daily basis to be that light to others and demonstrate our RAMS Values of Respect, Achieve and Improve, Make an Effort, and Serve Others.

Thank you to the IJAG students for creating positive messaging around our school with encouraging notes, displays, and bulletin boards!

Congratulations to our Students of the Week!

Youth Frontiers: Respect Retreat

YouthFrontiers (YF) is a nonprofit organization that has been delivering retreats to schools since 1987. They provide schools with experiences that inspire character, civility and community so that our next generation of leaders is grounded in character. On the Respect Retreat, the YF Programs Staff will focus on creating a more positive school community by engaging students in a variety of activities that enhance self-confidence, empathy and connectedness. This high-energy, interactive retreat is scheduled on Thursday, October 17 for the 10th grade class during the school day at GHS. For more information, see: https://www.youthfrontiers.org/. We will provide students and parents with more information about this program in the upcoming weeks. For questions, contact Assistant Principal, Mr. Jeremy Stukenholtz at: stukenholtzj@glenwoodschools.org.

Looking forward to another great week RAM Nation!
