8th Football Results

The 8th Grade football team ended their season last night with a 28-6 victory over Creston.  The Rams got started early with a Haze Stephens 55 yard touchdown run.   Stephen’s pass to Benn Christiansen for the PAT made the score 8-0 with 6:13 to go in the first quarter.  The defense would impose its will early and often as they forced the Panthers into 4th and long inside their own 5 yard line.   The punt snap was bobbled and went out of the back of the endzone for a safety bringing the score to 10-0 just over midway in the 1st quarter.  The Rams would march the ball do the field on the series and cap it off with Dylan Powles 7 yard touchdown run.  The PAT attempt was no good and brought an end to the first quarter with the Rams up 16-0.

The second quarter was plagued with penalties and found both teams unable to put any points on the board leaving the Halftime score Rams 16, Creston 0.

Defensively, Parker Askew would recover a Panther fumble early in the 3rd quarter which led to Powles 15 yard touchdown run just 1:08 into the second half.  The PAT run attempt was unsuccessful; bringing the score 22-0 in favor of the Rams.

Creston would finally get on the board with a 25 yard touchdown pass with 3:22 left in the game.   The PAT attempt was no good and brought the score to 22-6.  The Rams offense would score one more time after a couple of large runs by Powles.  The drive would be capped off with a 10 yard touchdown run by Stephens with under a minute to go in the game.  The PAT pass attempt fell incomplete.

The Rams end their season with a record of 3-2-1.

  • The B team lost in the 5th quarter game 0-8.    The Ram offense had a difficult time sustaining drives while the Ram defense was stingy for the majority of the game.  The lone Creston touchdown came when the Panther running back was able to break free on a 35 yard touchdown run.

7th Football Results

Last night the Glenwood 7th football team ended the 2023 campaign with A and B team wins.  They also completed the season with an impressive 11-0-1 record (B team had a tie).

The game started in a tough way with the Panthers scoring on the opening drive to put the Rams down 6-0.  Joe Leick (40)answered on the Rams opening drive with a 9 yard run, the 2 point conversion was run in by Nolan Cook (6).  Making the score 8-6 with 4:50 in the 1st quarter.  Leick again found the endzone in the first quarter this time on a 28 yard run, the 2 point conversion by Nolan Cook made the score 16-6, with 2:02 left in the 1 quarter.  The 2nd quarter Leick would find the endzone this time Cook would hit him on a 68 yard pass on third down and very long, Leick would run the 2 point conversion in as well, making the early 2nd quarter score 24-6.  The half would end with Creston putting another score and 2 point conversion on the board making the half time score 24-14 in favor of the Rams.

After an inspired half time talk by coach Schulte the Rams came out firing on all cylinders, putting up 22 unanswered points.  The first by Leick on a 9 yard run, with the 2 point conversion.  The second by Nolan Cook on a 15 yard run, 2 point conversion was run in by Grile.  And the third was in the 4th quarter following a Deon Hill (12) interception on the Ram 15 yard line, by Ace Cochran (28).  Ace capped off the 85 yard drive with a 5 yard run, the 2 point conversion failed making the final score 46-14, and giving the 7th grade A team an undefeated 6-0 season.

The B game was another domination by the Rams, as they shut out the Panthers 28-0.  Deon Hill led the B team to their final game win scoring all 4 times on runs of 8,30,15, and 18 yards.  Hill would also run in a 2 point conversion, the final 2 point conversion was scored by Lane Quinn (30).
