  • 8th grade girls interested in Track there will be a meeting in Ms Peschel’s room next Tuesday during Rams Time
  • Back by request of students, the After Prom Committee will hold a dodgeball tournament on March 14th at the HS at 5pm. There will be a middle school and a high school division. 

 

    • Teams can be Coed, all male or all female.
    • All teams will compete against each other.
    • Teams to be made up of students only.
    • Teams should have at least 6 players but no more than 8 (6 starters, 2 subs).
    • $40 per team
    • Please turn money and waivers into Mrs Mount by March 11th.

 

  • Congratulations to all wrestlers that competed at AAU STATE   

Wrestling this weekend!! Place winners were: 

    • Joe Leick: State Champion!
    • Kolton Dooley: 3rd Place
    • Shay Lundvall: 7th Place
    • Ace Cochrane: 7th Place
    • Aiden Bachmen: 8th place 

 

  • Congratulations to our jazz band for their dominating performance at the Dick Bauman District Jazz Festival yesterday.  The band took 1st place as well as receiving awards for best overall Saxophone, Trombone, and Rhythm Sections.  Additionally, students receiving awards for outstanding soloists included - Ahna G., Ava G. Lane S., Lucas K., Connor H., and Caleb K.  Caleb also had the distinction of being named the overall most outstanding soloist for the day.  Great job band!

 

  • Five Glenwood Middle School TAG Robotics teams participated in the 2024 Iowa State Robotics Competition last weekend.  The TAG Robotics team consisting of Brecken Abbott (8th. grade), Wyatt Bencker (7th. grade), Lyric Lundvall (7th. grade), Logan McDaniel (7th. grade), and Kolton Thompson (7th. grade) earned the VEX Robotics Excellence Award, which qualifies them to go to the VEX Worlds Championship in Dallas, Texas at the end of April!   This team is the Top All-Around Team (Robot Performance and Judged) in the state of Iowa!  The Excellence Award is the highest award presented in the VEX Robotics competition. This award is presented to a team that exemplifies overall excellence in building a high-quality robotics program. This team is a strong contender in numerous award categories.

Starting February 6th, Any Boy or Girl 6th grade through 8th grade interested in becoming or learning how to Hurdle for the track team, is encouraged to take part in early morning hurdle training at the Middle School from 6:45 am - 7:30 am.  Hosted by Head HS Girls Track Coach, Mr. Bueltel and Head HS Boys Track Coach, Mr. Starner.

 

Dates for hurdle lessons/workouts include Feb. 6th,12th, 20th, 26th and March 4.  These workouts will meet just one day a week and will take approximately 45 minutes a day.  It's a great way to learn how to hurdle prior to the Middle School track and field season.
