Football Results

The young Rams took on the Monarch of Denison Schleswig with a solid 66-14 win.  The Ram B team posted an 8 -0 win as well.

Denison won the coin flip and chose to kick the ball off, and Bennett Grile (26) returned 70 yards for a touchdown.  The 2 point conversion was run in by Joe Lieck (40), making the score 8-0 with 7:48 on the clock.  After the Rams kicked the ball to the Monarchs the Ram defense forced them to punt the ball away, when Lieck scored his 1st touchdown of the day with a 40 yard punt return.  The 2 point conversion failed making the score 14-0 with 5:15 on the clock.  After forcing another punt by Denison, the Ram offense got on the field and put together a nice little drive that ended with another Lieck score on a 15 yard run with 2:22 left in the opening quarter.  Lieck added the 2 point conversion, making the score 20-0.  The defense was not to be out done by special teams and the offense, so Ace Cochran (28) stripped the ball from a Monarch ball carrier, and ran 40 yards for the 4 touchdown of the 1st quarter.  Leick converted the 2 point conversion, making the end of the 1st quarter score 30-0.

In the second quarter, the Rams went to the air with quarterback Nolan Cook (6) hit tight end Tate Buthe (22) for a 24 yard touchdown pass and catch.  The 2 point conversion failed making the score 36-0.  After another forced punt by the defense,  Grile ran 32 yards for his 2nd score of the game.  Lieck ran the 2 point conversion in, making the score 44-0.  The first half ended with the second fumble recovery by Cochrane with 1:00 minute left to play.

The Rams defense would hold the Monarch to a 3 and out which led to the only score of the 3rd quarter by Cochrane, who capped a 45 yard drive with a 3 yard run.  Making the score 50-0 with 4:44 on the running clock.

In the 4th quarter, after a Denison score, Deon Hill scored his first touchdown, on a 41 yard run, making the score 56-6.  The Monarch would again put the ball in the endzone, and so would Hill, this time with an 11 yard touchdown run, Quinn Lane (30) scored the 2 point conversion capping a great Ram win, and the final score of 64-14.

The B game was  a 15 minute running clock that started with the Rams on defense.  After a long drive the Rams would bend but not break, holding the Denison offense out of the endzone.  This time Hill did not run the ball in for a score, but he would find Ryan Gonzalez (1) for an 8 yard touchdown pass.  Hill would run the 2 point conversion making the score 8-0 with 3:58 left in the game.  That would be the final as the Glenwood Rams Defense would hold the Denison Monarchs scoreless.

Your Glenwood Rams 7th grade football team will hit the road next week to take on the Harlan Cyclone, at 3:45 in Harlan.

Volleyball Results

The 7th grade girls played a very good Atlantic team. In the first set the A team girls rallied back when down by 8 points to end up winning the set 26-24. The second set was another close one with the girls unfortunately losing 22-25. We ended up losing a lot of momentum and finished the game by losing the third set 3-15.

The B team went on to split games with Atlantic losing the first game 14-25. The girls fought back hard and took the second set with a score of 25-15 gaining momentum into the C team's game. The C team played hard, but dropped the first game 16-25. The girls would end up winning a very close second set with a score of 26-24.

Atlantic had even more girls than us and had a D team play against our C team. The C team girls played very hard and won both sets by more than 10 points. The girls will be back at it on Monday against Lewis Central in Council Bluffs.

The 8th grade teams played Atlantic.   The A Team came away with the win, while B and C came up short but battled hard!  All three teams had a combined 47 Aces on the night.

The A team won all three sets and a thriller second set with a score of 31-29.  The team had a total of 20 aces and were led by Jacie K. and Malynn J. with 5 each, Jennalyne W. added 4, and Ava H. 3.  The team also had 20 kills led by Malynn J. and Ava H. with 5 each, Jennalyne W. and Ayri L. added 4 each.

The B team went 1-2 in sets for the night.  The B team had 10 aces led by Claire C. with 3.  They also had 11 kills led by Rylie R.  with 5, and Sophie R. had 3.  These girls did a great job hustling, communicating, and playing as a team!

The C team also went 1-2 in sets play as well.  They had 16 aces led by Zoey B. and Harley V. with 4 and Alyssa P. added 3. The girls played tough and in sets 2 and 3 had to go extra points to extend the game because of their aggressive play!
