Last night the Glenwood 7th grade football had the 2nd game of the 2024 season.  The young Rams hosted the Trojans of Atlantic with a solid 48-12 win.

The Ram defense started the game and bent a little, but forced the Trojans to punt.  Treg Arnold (3) scored on the first offense play, on a 31 yard run.  Colton Uphoff (22) tack on the 2 point conversion, to make the score 8-0 with 4:37 on the clock.  Atlantic managed to put the ball in the end zone,  but the Ram defense held strong on the 2 point conversion play, holding the score to 8-6.

With 30 seconds left in the 1st quarter Gannon Cook scored on an 11 yard run, and Nate Schulte (36) scored the 2 point conversion, making the end of the 1st quarter score 16-6.

The second quarter turned into a defensive battle with the only score happening when Gannon Cook hooked up with Schulte on a 73 yard pass to end the 1st half.  With the 2 point conversion run by Cook the score was 24-6.

The Rams received the ball in the second half Kane Donscheski ran the kick off back 77 yards for a touchdown. Treg Arnold added a 2 point conversion, to make the score 32-6 with only 12 seconds off the 3rd quarter clock.   Cook scored on another 1 yard run with 3:11 left on the clock.  Cole Herrington (12) added a PAT kick, making the score 39-6.  Herrington had a fantastic kickoff that caused the Trojans to be stopped on the 3 yard line.  The next defensive play the Ram defense forced the Trojan quarterback to intentionally ground the ball in the endzone, which is a Ram defense safety, making the 3rd quarter score 41-6.  Cook scored yet again to bring the 3 quarter to an end on a 55 yard run with 58 seconds remaining.   Herrington added another PAT making the score 48-6.

The 4th quarter was rather quick with a running clock, Atlantic scored on another long pass to make the final score 48-12.

The B game was a slow start, but Michael Portrey (18) kicked started the B team with an interception.  Tate King (26) scored his first passing touchdown when he threw an 18 yard pass to Ryan Steele (4).  Gavin Anderson (5) ran the 3 yard point after touchdown.  Making the score 8-0 with 8:36 left on the clock.   Cash Cook (14) stepped in front of another Atlantic pass, giving the ball back to the Ram offense and Bennett Kenkel (2) took advantage and connected with Corbin Freeman to score from 12 yards out.  After the 2 point conversion failed the score was 14-0.  Cooper Stanton put an explanation point on the game by collecting an Atlantic fumble, to end the game.

The Rams will host the Denison Monarchs next Thursday at 4:15
