Welcome Back to the 2023-2024 School Year

Welcome to the 2023-24 school year!  As I begin my 15th year as Glenwood Community Middle School Principal, I am grateful to have the opportunity to work in a community that supports and values education.  I am looking forward to partnering with you to make this year a positive and enriching experience for all middle school students.   Glenwood Community Middle School is a place in which we strive to create an environment where all students and staff are provided the opportunities and support they need to reach their full potential.  This is attainable due to the dedication of our staff, parents, guardians, students, and community.  

Again this year, the middle school will be implementing Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS), as well as Capturing Kids’ Hearts (CKH), in an effort to foster an environment that is more predictable and effective for achieving academic and social goals which attributes to a better school culture.   Our building-wide expectations are intentionally implemented and supported through our PBIS / CKH implementation plan.

The middle school staff understands the unique learning needs of adolescents and incorporates engaging strategies into the learning.   Our staff also understands that some students may require multiple opportunities in order to master the content.  For this reason, we have an intervention time built into the schedule so teachers can provide needed support.  We also understand that students may not need intervention time for the purpose of reteaching.  To support all students, we offer enrichment activities during this time, as well.

Once again, welcome to the 2023-24 school year!  I am looking forward to working with each of you and celebrating the many successes of our students throughout the year!
