Driver Requirements
Veteran bus drivers and driver applicants are required to do the following:
- Carry a current Class B CDL with Passenger, School Bus, and Airbrake endorsement
- Carry a current Medical Examiner's Certificate (issued following a DOT physical examination)
- Maintain a clean driving record
- Be able to pass a pre-employment and random drug and/or alcohol tests
Prior to employment and at the time your driver's license requires renewal, each driver applicant will be required to authorize Driving Record, Criminal Background and State Child Abuse Registry checks.
During a training period, all drivers will receive in-house training which includes, but not limited to:
- Learning routes
- Driving experience while driving with veteran drivers
- Student management/disciplinary problems
- Driving in inclement weather
- Facilitating an emergency bus evacuation
- Communicating effectively with parents
