Capturing Kids' Hearts
Capturing Kids’ Hearts is a schoolwide behavior management approach used at our high school. At GHS, we believe that relationships and positive interactions are the foundation for learning. Examples include: greeting at the door, social contracts, affirming and praising good work, and using the social contract to address conflict and behavior and coach to improvements. Other essential elements include: getting students engaged as leaders in the classroom and in the learning process during group work. There have been many examples of student leadership this year, from students leading the sharing of “good things” in the classroom, nominating their classmates for students of the week, and student leaders and organizations stepping up with campus wide efforts of kindness and service.
Fostering positive behaviors, acts of kindness, and respectful interactions in our school is a priority. We appreciate parents, students, and educators helping to create a school where everyone feels welcome!
