From the Desk of Mrs. O’Grady
West Friends and Family,
We are working to come up with ways to keep students motivated throughout the final quarter of the year! We all have a little cabin fever and may need some reteaching and practicing for behaviors and expectations. The PBIS team at West is working on ways to reward students for following our expectations of respect, responsibility, safety and kindness as many of our students live these expectations on a daily basis!!!! Ask your students about our March Madness contest!!!
Our Iowa Assessments will be the last week in April and the first week in May. Please help us get our testing done quickly and avoid making any appointments or vacations during this time. It is tough to give up so much time to testing. Adding make up tests to the list can be overwhelming for kids and teachers. Thank you in advance for considering this request!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for making Parent/Teacher conferences a priority. Our goal is always 100% participation, so please help us by picking a time. We will be reaching out to families that have not been able to talk about their child’s progress. It is THAT important!!!!!
Our Read-a-thon was a huge success!!! Thank you for your helping the PTA raise funds to help fund our field trips and classroom items that are not covered in the school’s budget!!!!
A few things to remember:
- BLUE RIBBON FUN NIGHT - at West from 5-7:30pm (games/bounce house/hotdog dinner) all for FREE - please watch for an RSVP form - we want an estimate for food! We want EVERYONE to get to celebrate our National Blue Ribbon Award!
- Our spring BOGO book fair will be held in May.
- ISASP Testing April 24th - May 5th (please make attendance during these two weeks a priority)
4th graders should be at the High School auditorium by 6:45 (on the 16th) to line up for the music program. Please keep your student with you until Miss Beery asks for them to go backstage. More information will be coming next week!
