Dear West Families,

ISASP (the old ITBS (Iowa Test of Basic Skills) is coming soon - end of April! We will get a list of helpful hints out to you before the testing begins. Our teachers work hard all year long to help prepare students for the rigor of these online assessments. Please reassure your child/ren that these tests are a snapshot of what they do at school, and we just need them to give their best effort! We will do our best to make sure students understand that grit and determination are what we are looking for…not perfection!!!!!

Thanks to all of you that took time out of your busy schedule to help us celebrate our National Blue Ribbon.  The Fun Night was great, and allowed us all  to “play hard” together! A big shout out  to our PTA for helping us fund the night and prepare for having a large crowd!  We could not have done it without their support!

Have a wonderful Spring Break - I think we ALL deserve a few days to rest and get ready to finish STRONG!!!!

A Few Things to Remember:

  • Please check with your child to see if they have working headphones that they use with their Chromebooks.  We will need each student to have a pair for the upcoming Iowa  Statewide Assessment of  Student Progress/ISASP  (new name for the old ITBS tests).  Check with your child’s teacher if you are unsure.

  • We will have ISASP testing from April 25th - May 6th.  PLEASE try to schedule dr. appts, etc. outside of these two weeks.  We have a small window within which to get the tests completed, so there is an urgency around as few make up tests administered as possible.
